SOCIAL MEDIA
Social Media is today part of life in all professions, industries social organisations, etc. . If you wish to advertise your Association or Society to recruit members or advertise or promote your fishery venue or its facilities, then a web site is an excellent way of achieving this. The website is also very useful to let members know of changes to rules or information concerning their members. Some Angling Associations prefer a one way web site where the user finds all he or she needs to know on contacts, location, venue details, matches, fish species and sizes, etc. but the web site does not have the facilities to post back comments: the web site information is changed only be the website manager.s or administrators. Other web sites allow the use of web site post facilities, to provide feedback opinions from users on the fishery, on facilities, fish stocks etc., and allowing visiting anglers to record details and photographs of their catches to further promote the fishery. Whilst the post facility can be useful to further promote the fishery it can be abused by unhelpful users of the site facilities. A good standard of hosting is essential.
Web sites can involve some expenditure on site development and site hosting but can be less expensive if one of your committee members has the expertise to spend time developing and maintaining the site. However, hosting of web site does need a professional approach to ensure its continuity and accuracy. Never cut back on the costs of professional web site hosting. Some web sites are enhanced for their members to pay their annual subscriptions or donations to the club, but again this does need further professional development.
Social media, using established packages (e.g. Facebook, Twitter) can be a very inexpensive way of promoting your fishery or Angling Association/Society. particularly if one of your members has sufficient knowledge to set up the packages to its full effect. Usually social media is used to supplement your website providing a faster and more effective reporting facility,
