FISHERY MANAGEMENT FOR CLUBS AND ASSOCIATIONS
A personal view based on personal experiences (e.g attending courses, completing examinations: reading available literature, liaison with Angling support organisations, involvement in Angling Association and Society Management) . It should be stressed that this small website is not designed to duplicate the wide range of information that is currently available from professional bodies but more to identify who can provide support when it is needed.
Many modern day fisheries, with their improved facilities (e.g.catering services, bait suppliers, tackle suppliers, ablution services, fish stock management, etc.) together with their increased fish stock levels to meet the greater expectations of today’s anglers, make their management very similar to the management of a small or medium sized business, requiring a more professional approach and needing a wider range of technical and financial skills.
This small web site attempts to do no more than assist in the management processes by providing some topics for consideration but more importantly to identify who can help with problems that you will probably face. In some cases it does involve the membership of an Institute, Organisation or Trust, but any costs incurred will usually be more than value for money.
It should be stressed that each Angling Association should have a Constitution and a Committee that meets regularly and on regular dates to review problems and improvements that may be needed, An Annual General Meeting at which all members can attend should also be part of the Constitution in an effort to seek the views of those members who wish to attend.
