Obviously they cannot solve all your operational problems but establish contacts,\u00a0 who\u00a0 you can contact in cases of emergency. Sometimes money may be available to improve your fisheries or encourage juniors to become involved in angling.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ensure that \u00a0you have adequate contacts with Angling Trust \u00a0staff to get the best support \u00a0for your Association\/Society <\/strong>\u00a0(e.g. for bailiffs courses,\u00a0 local\u00a0 competitions, \u00a0for coaching advice, for COVID-19 advice, etc.).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Institute of Fisheries Managements<\/strong> ( for members who wish to develop their management and professional skills to help your\u00a0 Society or Association).\u00a0 Provide financial support to interested members where you can. Encourage involvement for all interested members<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fisheriesmanagement.org.uk\/index.php\/professional-bodies-that-can-help\/img_0222\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"attachment noopener wp-att-203\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-203 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fisheriesmanagement.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/IMG_0222-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fisheriesmanagement.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/IMG_0222-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.fisheriesmanagement.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/IMG_0222.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Environment Agency<\/strong> (for advice on fish transfers between \u00a0different waters, \u00a0management of predators, and general club management issues.) sometimes money may be available to Associations for fishery improvements.<\/p>\n<p>fish stock assessments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Management Consultants<\/strong> (for Ad \u00a0hoc work &#8211; check costs and scope) Can be over expensive<\/p>\n<p><strong>c) ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGES,\u00a0 FINANCES AND INSURANCE<br \/>\n<\/strong><span style=\"font-family: var(--global--font-secondary); font-size: var(--global--font-size-base);\">Ensure you have the necessary planning consent and approval\u00a0 for any changes and ensure that your plans and estimates of income and expenditure are checked for accuracy. Ensure you have adequate insurance and that it is up to date. Seek legal advice when you need it..<\/span><span style=\"font-family: var(--global--font-secondary); font-size: var(--global--font-size-base);\">Seek\u00a0 accurate costs for the work that you may need<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: var(--global--font-secondary); font-size: var(--global--font-size-base);\">Appoint someone to act as\u00a0 Fishery Manager and a Fishery support team to maintain the angling stations, inflows, outflows, fish mortality records,\u00a0 predation\u00a0 issues, site cleanliness issues, etc. The Fishery Manager should be on the committee and report on any issues of Fishery\u00a0 concern. Provide training and costs for training where it is needed and in liaison with the Treasurer the costs of fishery improvements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>c) WATER QUALITY.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ensure you have, or have <strong>access<\/strong> to, the right meters, etc. for water quality measurement; ensure that you can calibrate the meters\u00a0 without difficulty or arrange for qualified assistance if it is needed.\u00a0 \u00a0(Oxygen meter, \u00a0ammonia meter, \u00a0suspended solids meter,salt monitoring meters, or \u00a0ammonia strips, etc.). Sometimes working with other clubs than eliminate the need to have your\u00a0 own meters for all measurements and can prove cost effective.\u00a0 Have contacts who can help with meter calibration if necessary.\u00a0 For some measurements that\u00a0 need be taken only\u00a0 occasionally,\u00a0 rather than on a frequent basis (e.g.ammonia levels, silt levels, etc); you may be able to liaise with the Environment Agency or other Associations\u00a0 to assist in taking such measurements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>d)FISH STOCKS<br \/>\n<\/strong><span style=\"text-align: right; color: var(--global--color-primary); font-family: var(--global--font-secondary); font-size: var(--global--font-size-base); background-color: var(--global--color-background);\">Create systems for the monitoring your fish stock levels (e.g monitoring match weights, checking fish condition, etc.). Ensure they are accurate and reported to the committee. Netting operations when needed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>e) PREDATION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Liaise with your members and local neighbour\u2019s\u00a0 around the fishery to report and to monitor any visits to the fishery by cormorant or other non native bird species;\u00a0 or mammals that are likely to feed on fish stocks<\/p>\n<p><strong>f) DISEASE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Have basic monitoring \u00a0and recording systems for fish mortality.<\/p>\n<p>Liaise with professional support if fish mortality increases significantly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>g) COACHING OF JUNIOR ANGLERS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Encourage your committee and members to set up\u00a0 or support a junior section and to attend coaching courses and competitions\u00a0 organised by the Angling Trust. You will need coaches for different levels, introductory, intermediary,\u00a0 junior championship levels.<\/p>\n<p><strong>h)POACHING<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ensure your premises are protected, when apprpropriate. Ensure ongoing training for bailiffs. Liaise with the Angling Trust on the voluntary bailiff\u00a0 training scheme if you are a member of the Angling Trust.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I)LOOK AFTER YOUR MEMBERS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Always remember your members are your funding source\u00a0 and usually your\u00a0 support. They must have confidence in your actions and \u00a0must be consulted \u00a0on all important issues.\u00a0 No matter how professional the management of your Association, seek their views \u00a0on major changes.
